My art is an expression of my inner life and comes from places I don’t fully understand. Although I had no formal training in art, while growing up I was exposed to artists in my extended family. I drew and painted a lot as a child, but stopped for many years while pursuing my education and career. This pursuit included studying the intricacies of the human mind, foreign languages and symbolic expression. Eventually I found myself drawing detailed, ornamental designs. Pen and ink seemed to lend itself to this type of work and became my primary medium.
The pieces themselves consist of images which I believe represent a combination of both the universal and personal unconscious and the external world. The influence of religious, mystical, and natural elements of various cultures emerges in my work as well. I hope the meditative and meaningful experiences I had doing this work can be communicated to you.
